Elysia’s 1st Annual Music Festival! Varied styles of music from solo to blues to country to rock. Music “sets” going from Friday afternoon to late into Saturday night. Listen to Angela Hehr – singer performer from Victoria BC; 2005 Cariboo Idol winner and two time Canadian Idol contestant. Then listen to Yo Mamma – five professional-level Cariboo musicians with the ability to perform and please in many musical styles from blues to jazz, and country and rock, from the 60’s to today.

Fri June 6th – Sun June 8th 2008.

We invite you to join Elysia Resort on Quesnel Lake’s 2nd Annual Fly Fishing Tactics School. You will learn fly fishing tactics from the masters -- Brian Chan, Peter Morrison & Shim Hogan – world renowned fly fishermen, fly tiers and fly casters. Class size is limited so there will be a student/instructor ratio of no more than 4 to 1! Read on to find out more about the school, Elysia Resort, and Quesnel Lake. Elysia Resort Fly Fishing Tactics School
Includes the following:

* Meals starting from Friday dinner 6 June to Sunday lunch 8 June,
* 2 nights double occupancy lodging,
* Instruction from fly fishing experts Brian Chan, Peter Morrison, Shim Hogan and Ruben Breitkreutz

Fee: $750 (CAD) + applicable taxes. Not included in the fee: alcohol, boats, boat fuel, personal gear, gratuities, and travel to and from the resort.

Instructor Biographies:

Brian Chan is a fisheries biologist in Kamloops, BC. He is the author of Flyfishing Strategies for Stillwaters and one of the contributors to The Gilly and Fly Fishing British Columbia. His fly tying is featured in The World’s Best Trout Flies and the book Morris & Chan on Fly Fishing Trout Lakes. He has also produced instructional videos on lake fly fishing.

Peter Morrison is a casting advisor to the Federation of Fly Fishers, a certified master casting instructor well known for his many fly fishing and casting seminars, a contributor to Fly Fishing British Columbia, a factory representative for Sage Rods and RIO Fly Lines, a former professional angling guide and a pioneering saltwater angler, most notably in the quest for Pacific salmon. A fly fisher for more than 25 years, he has angled for almost every Canadian game fish as well as such exotic species as tarpon and bonefish. He has worked in the fly fishing tackle industry for 15 years and in 1999 was selected to join the Canadian team at the 2nd Annual New Zealand Saltfly Tournament.

Shim HoganShim Hogan is the founder of Anglers Choice Fly Tying Materials. A Master fly tier, he has developed and marketed numerous fly tying materials including Angel Hair, Super Floss, Mohair Plus and Soft Body. In 2000 he launched Flytiers.com one of the first online stores dedicated to fly tying. He also owns and publishes the digital fly fishing magazines Global Angler and Western Flyfisher.

Ruben Breitkreutz, from Vernon, is certified as a casting instructor and is also very savvy with entomology and other fly fishing subjects as well. He became Peter Morrison’s business associate in early 2007. Ruben unexpectedly joined us last year at our 1st annual school and was a tremendous help with casting, fly tying and entomology.

What to bring:

For Fly Fishing

* 5 - 6 weight fly rod
* Local fly patterns
* Reel with floating, sinking and sink-tip lines
* Lots of backing on reels
* 9 - 9 ½ ft. Tapered leaders 4X or 5X tippet material
* Nippers and hemostats, or, needle-nose pliers
* Fly floatant
* Split shot
* Polarized sunglasses

* Dress in Layers to accommodate 40 - 80 degrees F

**Not everyone has to bring a boat to this course, but we need to make sure that there are enough boats. When you book for the course, let Harmony or Susan know what you have and what you are able to bring if necessary. Boats may be rented and are available for this course at a reduced rate of 20% off.

Bookings are confirmed and guaranteed with a 50% deposit. The balance is paid upon departure. Deposits are nonrefundable unless we are able to fill your spot. Your deposit confirms and guarantees your reservation. If you fail to show, or cancel outside of the agreed cancellation policy time period, we reserve the right to charge the full amount of your intended stay to the credit card given at the time of booking. We accept Visa and MasterCard. Your authorization to use your credit card number for deposit and/or final payment indicates your compliance with our booking terms and conditions, whether or not you have actually read or signed the appropriate draft.
