Canoeing
or Float Tubing Keno Lake:
Keno Lake is a small and secluded lake approximately
10 km away from Elysia Resort. It is safe for canoeing
or float tubing and is abundant with wildlife, fish
and beautiful scenery. Part of the lake is marshy,
supporting numerous varieties of birds. Well off the
beaten path, you can expect to be the only one on
the lake, true solitude and wilderness.
Eco
Float:
Float along the Horsefly River in a single-person
Pontoon Boat, or a four-person drift boat, and see
the splendor of the river scenery. In the autumn the
colors will take your breath away, the Sockeye Salmon
will be spawning, and you will likely see trout lurking
in the shadows. No matter the season, floating the
river promises many opportunities to see wildlife,
birds and spectacular flora. You will return more
relaxed than you can ever remember feeling.
Nature
& Adventure Experiences by Boat:
Let
one of our fully qualified and experienced guides
take you wildlife viewing by boat. Learn about the
little known pristine wilderness that the Quesnel
Lake Watershed has to offer. Visit a majestic waterfall.

and miles of sandy beaches. On the way, depending
on the season, we can see mountain goats, bears, moose,
deer, river otter, eagles and many types of water
birds. We can stop for a picnic lunch, beach comb
and maybe catch a trout for your dinner. Besides enjoying
great food, in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere,
you will learn local native history, folklore, and
natural interpretation, photograph spectacular scenery
and wildlife, and enjoy opportunities to catch the
famous Quesnel Lake trophy size rainbow.

Driving
Tour of Historic Horsefly Area or Quesnel Forks:
The
town of Horsefly, 42 km from us, has many amenities
such as a grocery store and gas station, plus an art
gallery, museum, pub and cafe. This tour includes
a visit to the local art gallery and museum. You can
also enjoy an easy hike to Moffat Falls. And, if visiting
us in the fall, a visit to the Sockeye Salmon Spawning
Channels is a breathtaking must. The Horsefly area
is rich in Gold Rush History. It is well worth spending
some time here.
Or,
Quesnel Forks is an old ghost town that was fast and
furious in the Gold Rush days. The road to Quesnel
Forks almost guarantees you will see a moose cross
the road. And, you can stop and see the Chinese ovens
along the way. Located on the Quesnel River, Quesnel
Forks quietly stands today much as it did back in
the mid 1800s.
Spring
Grizzly Bear Viewing:
In
conjunction with Eureka peak Outfitters, we are able
to offer spring Grizzly Bear Viewing Packages on Quesnel
Lake!
In
the three days of this trip, you will be immersed
in the tremendously diverse tapestry that is the natural
world, not only emphasizing grizzly bears, but all
manner of mammals, birds, flora and fauna.
Your
trip begins at Quesnel Lake, the deepest fiord lake
in the world, which offers a unique ecosystem encompassing
the ancient old growth forest and hidden valleys of
the Cariboo Mountains. Quesnel Lake's aquatic system
is connected to many rivers and streams that are the
spawning ground for the largest sockeye salmon run
in the world. This in turn supports one of the largest
grizzly bear populations in the province.
The
Horsefly, Mitchell, Niagara, and Blue lead are just
some of the 38 streams and rivers whose watersheds
drain into Quesnel Lake. Embarking on our 21 foot
cabin cruiser, the "Grizzly Spirit", we enjoy freedom
of movement and spectacular scenery along several
hundred miles of lakeshore.
Spring
time is the ideal time for viewing interior grizzly
bears as they gather on the avalanche slopes of our
rugged mountains during the mating season.
Eureka
Peak’s licensed guides bring a lifetime of experience
exploring, pioneering and studying the natural history
of the Cariboo Mountains. Our Quesnel Lake accommodations
at Elysia Resort allow you to enjoy the pristine elements
of the wilderness without sacrificing the comforts
of home. Daily boat tour adventures take us across
Quesnel Lake for exciting multi-hour viewing stints
combined with natural history and cultural interpretation.
